Americans have long depended on jarred baby foods for convenient feeding. In the past few years more and more processed food options have entered the children’s food market. The big brands have expanded into pre-packaged "toddler meals" and "school lunches" all in the name of helping busy parents who need things to be fast and convenient. Even for those parents with the best effort and intention, there may be times when you just can’t make or safely pack your own food. One of my clients had served her eight-month-old homemade, organic baby food from his first bite. However while traveling with her son to England; she brought a few jars of food "just in case" she ran out of fresh items on the flight. Here are some tips for buying commercially jarred foods, when you’re in a pinch.
? Opt for those with the most calories, meaning more food per unit weight.
? Look for jars of organic foods, without fillers.
? Check that the expiration date on the jar has not passed.
? Choose foods without chemicals and preservatives.
? If feeding your baby a vegetarian diet, look for the Vegetarian Society’s "V" symbol on the jar or container, to be sure it is truly vegetarian.

World Of Warcraft, Could It Be Killing Our Teens

The parents of a teenage son who committed suicide just over a year ago claim that their son become addicted to the massively multiplayer online role-playing game, World of Warcraft. They believe that as a result of this addiction he took his own life. Now these parents are suing World of WarCraft developers Blizzard Entertainment, blaming the game developers for the tragic loss of their son.
The details of just how many hours this teen had been playing World of Warcraft prior to his death has not yet been published. Just what would constitute an addiction is hard to quantify. The generally accepted medical definition of an addiction is; a habitual psychological and physiological dependence on a substance or practice beyond one’s voluntary control. So using this definition as a guide we could assume he had no control over how often he sat down to play the online role playing game.

Quite often expectant fathers get bent out of shape over what they should be doing during the pregnancy. The pregnant woman is often the focus of all attention. She’s the one carrying the baby. Why is it important that you learn and discover new things? There are many reasons you should be interested in discovering new things.
Your Children Will Learn From You - The first person children learn from is their mom and dad. When you take an active interest in learning and discovering, your children will too. You have to lead by example. As a parent you have a duty to inspire your children and encourage them to explore the world they live in. The teenage years are confusing for parents and teens alike. Kids that once seemed open and full of sharing suddenly withdraw.
As a parent, your primary concern may be fostering communication with your teen. Most parents struggle to get something other than a one word response from their teenager.
It’s important to understand that you have to be delicate when approaching your teenager. You want to engage your child in conversation without putting them on the defense or causing them to withdraw.
While this can be challenging, the rewards of doing this are great. There are a few key strategies you can adopt to ensure that you foster strong communication and good ties with your teenagers.
Ask Indirect Questions to Facilitate a Conversation. If you ask your teenager a direct question you’ll probably end up with a one or two word response. Your goal should be encouraging them to talk about things from a broader perspective. To engage your child in a conversation about a particularly issue, consider asking them about something related but not directly tied to the subject you are getting at. You’ll help them ease into a discussion of what is on their mind.

It’s true, the number one milestone most parents seek look forward to is the day (or night) their newborn starts sleeping through the night.
You don’t have to suffer endless night after night without sleep however, even with a newborn.
Baby’s actually follow certain sleep patterns, and if you get to know what these patterns are you’ll start sleeping more soundly and better the times you do have a chance to get some sleep!
Baby’s don’t actually sleep at the same intervals adults do. They actually sleep very unsoundly. Their sleep is full of interruptions because their sleep cycle is not yet fully developed, thus they wake more often during the night.
Generally grown adults spend about six hours every night in deep sleep. This is the really restful phase of sleep you require to feel fresh and new in the morning. Usually time permitting another 2 hours are spent in light sleep.
Baby’s generally have twice as many light sleep cycles as adults though, and their deep sleep cycles are much shorter than adults.

“I should have spent more time with him. I should have motivated him more. I should have been a better role model. I should have been more firm with him.” On and on he went, judging himself for how he had been as a parent.
“Gerald,” I said, “Luc is on his own soul’s journey. Even if you had been a perfect parent - and none of us really knows what that means - Luc might still be having the challenges he is having.”
“Really? Wow! That makes me feel much better! I never thought of it that way. Tell me more about what you mean by his own soul’s journey.”
