Fighting the Pregnancy Blahs

Every pregnant woman has experienced the pregnancy blahs. I can remember feeling so big and unattractive throughout my two pregnancies, and secretly wishing for the pregnancy to be over so that I could have my body back and fit into my normal clothes. It’s sad to say, really, because pregnancy is such a beautiful experience and the fact that you created this little human being that is developing in your body should make you feel wonderful through every step of the way.
Oh, but those pregnancy blahs kick in! Your stomach is growing, you cannot fit into your normal clothes, you can’t see your feet, you waddle when you walk, your feet and legs are swollen, and other additional physical changes make you feel, well, blah! Sometime during your pregnancy, you may even start to feel bored with the pregnancy and/or feel depressed. Yes, those raging hormones kick in too.
Here are some tips in helping to beat those pregnancy blahs:
1) Eat healthy and get plenty of rest. Choose healthy foods and ensure that your intake is nutritious.
2) Exercise. Even a short walk in the outdoors will uplift your spirits.

Checking accounts are an absolute necessity these days. You can either have a checking account or run to the bank or other outlet for money orders. Many people pay for almost everything with a check including groceries, gas, clothes and a long list of other things. When you add an ATM card to this picture, your chances for a potential problem is greatly enhanced.
Don’t get me wrong. There are many people that can keep their check book up to date, even deducting all of the ATM advances and automatic withdrawals as they make them. However, too many people that write checks for everything wind up not entering a check when it is written or an ATM advance when it is made. The result is a bounced check fee of up to $25 for the bank and god only knows what the store where you wrote the check could charge you.

What is the mystery of motherhood? I know that when I was pregnant, experienced mothers could not stop giving me advice on taking care of newborns, delivery expectations and child care solutions. Yet, no mother ever told me how dreadful post partum depression could be, how much my world would change, how one person can bring so much to my life. I am taking this opportunity to share with expectant and first time mothers the truth about motherhood:
You will never love another being as much as your child (ren).
Wet kisses, hugs and snuggles really do make you feel better.
You might not automatically bond with your new baby.
You will feel like a failure some days.
There are days when you are on the edge of losing it.
You will always do more than your share in the family.
There are days when you don’t remember what you did for the day.
Having someone constantly depend on you can sometimes be daunting.
You sometimes feel guilty for wanting to spend time away from your children.

First there were Yuppies (Young Urban Professionals). Then came the Boomers, the Busters, the Boomlets, and Generation X. Now we have the DINCs, which stands for Double Income, No Children. I’m not talking about those who are unable to have children or who postpone having children until their financial crisis or mega-time-commitment to career has stabilized. I’m referring to those who are determined not to have children. Ever. Period. If this is your situation, please consider what follows.
Those of us who have crossed the Rubicon into parenthood know all about the liabilities involved–expenses, additional stress, unasked-for criticism, awakening to cries at 3 A.M. We also know its joys–a baby’s smiles, that first step, the first words, clapping for the little league big play, giving away the bride to a worthy man. Well, there is no definition of the term "educational toy" from what I know. However, what I do know is that an educational toy is a toy that helps a child learn something good, something that will help in the future. Play is the most important activity of any child.
Learning thru play is a reality; it can and it is done unknowingly every time your child plays. The parent must however control the play so that it remains on an educational course. There are also toys that aren’t exactly educational for children ? Toy guns and other such toys that somehow tend to violence and other bad behaviors are not recommended. You must avoid such toys. Although these toys may be a good source of fun for youngsters, on the long term they will only do harm.

Yes there are some very exact standards for your baby’s crib. In 1974 it was made law that cribs should no longer be painted with lead based paint. It was discovered that the ingestion of lead (from any source) could cause learning disabilities and other difficulties in young children. The slats of the crib must be no more than 2 3/8 inches apart, this is to prevent your baby from getting his body or head stuck between the bars causing injury or strangulation. The side bar should be 26 inches above the mattress when it is in its lowest position. If your child is more than an inch taller than the sidebar it is time to move him into a regular bed.

Technology is great, and as you may know, even a dead cell phone is capable of dialing 911. While 911 is great for that life or death emergency, it is not always the immediate solution for common everyday mishaps. As you probably well know, even smaller scale scenarios could eventually lead to a larger 911 problem if left unresolved long enough.
As a safety precaution, many parents are finding themselves purchasing extra phone cards that can be used from any phone. In the event a cell phone is disabled either by a low battery or bad reception area a phone card is good extra insurance. If your teen drives a motor vehicle, the possibility of them roaming into uncharted territory is increased. Remember when you were a teenager, bet you do.

Managing money is one of the most critical skills we must master to function effectively as adults. However, public school curricula rarely address this issue directly. Instead, teachers cover it as a side topic or as examples in math.

PARENTS can teach "money" lessons as soon as their kids can count. Otherwise, your toddler may reach his own conclusions about "where money comes from." He may decide it does not grow on trees; instead, it comes from an ATM (Automated Teller Machine).
Does your child expect you to buy her all kinds of goodies every time you go shopping? Or have you created a "budget" (sometimes referred to as an allowance) for such items?
If your family suffers a crisis such as job loss, accident, or a natural disaster, will your older child understand the financial consequences? Or does he still think that the electricity fairy magically turns on the lights for free?
